From 3 to 8 June Moscow’s cinema hall 35mm will welcome the international Beat film festival featuring best music documentaries from all over the world. It is an absolutely unique project which will be interesting not only to music lovers but to all fans of quality cinema. The program is a mix of films that premiered at leading international film festivals like Sundance or Berlinale within the past two years. However none of the films have ever been screened in Russia before.
“All Tomorrow’s Parties” (UK, 2009) is also in the festival programme. The films tells a story of a kaleidoscopic journey into the parallel musical universe of cult music festival All Tomorrow's Parties. In an out-of-season holiday camp on the coast of England, alternative music festival All Tomorrow’s Parties serves up a heady combination of alternative music, crazy golf and chalet-living; all curated by a single band or artist. This post-punk DIY bricolage uses material generated by the fans and musicians themselves, on a multitude of formats and over the history of ATP, to capture the uncompromising spirit of a parallel music universe.
Barry Hogan and Deborah Higgins will visit the Beat Film Festival on 7-9 June to present the film, and to meet Russian counter partners – various festival organisers, musicians, journalists - to tell more about ATP from inside.
