Tall Firs release Crooked Smiles video - crowdsourced at ATP!

After the release of their ‘Crooked Smiles’ single in December 2011, New York duo Tall Firs invited attendees of previous All Tomorrow's Parties festivals to submit self-shot footage of themselves at the event for inclusion in a music video for the track. Crooked Smiles was penned about the band's own experiences of the event's community atmosphere; Aaron Mullan describes his inspiration for the song:
“I've been to a lot of ATP's (20 +?) and one of my favorite things is watching people pile in on the first day. What's better than seeing smiling girls in their first-day-of-ATP outfits, laughing with their crew, literally staggering under the weight of the beer they intend to pound right fucking now? It's so optimistic I could lose my shit. And then later you see the same people 5 gigs and 1000 brews later staggering again, but now they're alone in the dark and rain, still smiling in the midnight shadow of the Butlin's tabernacle, searching for one more good time. Sorry, I'm a sap, but even the thought brings a tear to my eye."
In late December a number of fans submitted footage of themselves, their friends and the ubiquitous seagulls that dominate the festival's Minehead location. Marc Swadel then compiled the submitted footage in early 2012, resulting in a snapshot of fans elation, excitement and sometimes-debauched experiences that may occur over a ‘typical’ ATP weekend.

The track is taken from the band's recently released third album 'Out If It And Into It', which The Times named their CD of the week calling it 'extremely pleasurable', Clash highlighting it's 'exquisitive guitar' and 'thoughtful eloquence', a 4/5 from Q who call it 'wonderfully bleak' and Uncut who call it 'singular, affecting and timeless.'
