Stage Times / Films / Other Important Info for End Of An Era Part 2 & Tall Firs cover All Tomorrow's Parties

Wednesday 27th November, 2013

End Of An Era Part 2 - the last of our UK holiday camp festivals - takes place this weekend. Please check out all of the important info below and let your chalet mates know the relevant details.

Before we go any further, our friends and yours Tall Firs have covered All Tomorrow's Parties for the event which you can hear at Soundcloud.

Message from the band:

"In honor of ATP’s End Of An Era festivals, Tall Firs decided to do a simple recording of the Velvet Underground tune 'All Tomorrow’s Parties'. We meant it as a tribute to our pals at ATP, and to all our fond memories of festivals past. Since we recorded it; Lou Reed sadly died. So now it’s a tribute to ATP, and Lou, and you - our fellow music fans."

Anyone buying festival or ATP/R merch over the weekend at the festival will receive a free download card for the track, which when redeemed before December 25th will go into a draw to win an ATP Christmas package of £150 to spend on our online store.

We'll be keeping people up to date with tweets and photos across the weekend. The hashtag for the weekend is #endofanera2 so remember to keep an eye on that and include it in your tweets to stay up to date - and to follow and keep an eye on our twitter account twitter.com/atpfestival in case we need to post any important updates about time changes or additional activities/events. You can also follow us on Instagram for photos we'll be taking through the weekend: instagram.com/atpfestival.

We wanted to just highlight once more to you all the following important points we previously emailed out:

1. Every chalet on site contains one double sofabed alongside the single beds – and this will need to be shared by two attendees in your chalet. So please bear this in mind and let your fellow chalet dwellers know in advance so it’s not a surprise when you arrive. We have a full site so chalet upgrades/changes won't be possible once you get to Camber, which is why we remind folks about these bits now.

2. Unfortunately Pontins have informed us that unlike past ATP events, for these two final events they will not be providing linens free for each chalet. Duvets and pillows are still included free. They asked us to pass on the following information:

"Linen can be purchased on park at NISA by the front entrance for £10 for a single set, £20 for a double set and you can keep them after the event. Towels can also be purchased @ £5 per towel. A single set will be one pillowcase, one single sheet and one single duvet cover. A double set will be two pillowcases, one double sheet and one double duvet cover."

You are of course totally welcome (and we would highly recommend) that you just bring your own sheets/pillowcases (or maybe a sleeping bag if you prefer that) and towels with you so you do not have to pay for anything. Remember if you do bring your own, each chalet has a double bed so you'll need sheets to fit that.

3. We would recommend car sharing or using public transport to get to the event as last week we didn't have quite enough free parking on site for everyone - note there is extra paid parking across the road by the beach.

4. For the Sunday night the ATP staff and runners family will be dressed in black tie/their best dresses to celebrate the last day of our last holiday camp festival, and we'd like to invite attendees to join us. So get those suits out of mothballs and dust off your fascinators. We want to see your best party suit/dress/clothes to help us celebrate the end of one era and the start of the next!

5. One more quick note: As mentioned in our Info Letter - there a great farm shop less than 10 mins drive away from Pontins which sells local produce (cheese, ales etc), excellent ready meals plus does good coffee and bacon sandwiches. We've just confirmed with them that anyone with a festival wristband will get 10% off full price items across the weekend. Their site: http://www.saltsfarmshop.co.uk/

Some line-up additions:

Jozef Van Wissem now plays a solo set alongside his live soundtracking of the Partir To Live film.

Radical publishers Verso Books and Zer0 Books will be hosting the book club for ATP The End Of An Era Part 2, with guest Juliet Jacques (julietjacques.blogspot.co.uk/) joining us for discussions of  Clampdown: Pop-Cultural Wars on Class and Gender by Rhian E Jones in one session, and Chavs: The Demonization of the Working Class by Owen Jones in the other. Juliet is a freelance writer who covers gender, sexuality, literature, film and football. 'Trans', her first book, is forthcoming from Verso in 2015. She has written for the Guardian, the New Statesman, LRB, TimeOut and many other publications. Her Transgender Journey column for The Guardian, the first to document the gender reassignment process for a major mainstream publication, was longlisted for the Orwell Prize in 2011. She lives in London.

Lord Sinclair will be going out with a bang, hosting Book Bingo and Rock And Roll Bingo, taking place in the Queen Vic on Saturday afternoon from 2pm. Book Bingo is a chance for fans to pass on cherished books and discover new favourites. Fans will be asked to donate books before the start of the game, as it is as much about sharing books you have enjoyed as playing Bingo, and we will also have some new books provided by publishers and other generous organizations. Every bingo call is a quote from a book and the first person to the name the book wins a book from those donated. Book Bingo has been very popular at other ATP’s and gives anyone with a love of books the opportunity to go home with a new treasure.
