Fronted by former Deerhunter guitarist Colin D. Mee, this mysterious rock band recorded their debut album in late 2009, assisted by an assortment of local Atlanta characters. Chronicling a time of transition for individuals and society, it features vague yet precise, questioning, dream-influenced songwriting and themes of outsiderism, mysticism, struggle, regret, idealism and other profound concepts. The sound is characterized by steady, solid rhythms and ethereal guitars, keyboards and vocals.
Alongside Mee, Hollow Stars is now Devin Brown on the drums, Mason Brown on guitars and David Matysiak on bass duties. They’ve just recorded a new record at the Living Room with Ed Rawls. Some could say the stars are aligning! But those saying such things would be grimaced at by Zeus.
