ATP Nightmare Before Christmas
curated by Battles, Caribou & Les Savy Fav - December 9th-11th On Sale Now
All Tomorrow's Parties 'Nightmare Before Christmas' festival runs this weekend from the 9th-11th December at Butlins, Minehead - this year curated by Battles, Caribou and Les Savy Fav. As previously announced each band will headline and choose a line-up of 14 artists for one day of the festival. Tickets are on sale now via Seetickets, Gigantic and the ATP Store.
In the last few weeks we've release mixtapes from Les Savy Fav, Caribou and now we can add a third mix put together by Battles associate DJ EMZ - check them all out here - perfect listening music for your journey to the event!
We can now confirm the final additions to the ATP Nightmare Before Christmas:
- Cinema schedule - Les Savy Fav choose After Hours, Blazing Saddles, Fast Times At Ridgemont High, Pee Wee's Big Adventure and The Shining. Battles choose Easy Rider, Germany In Autumn, Solaris, Wise Blood with one more film tbc. Caribou choose American Movie, Crystal Voyager, My Name Is Albert Ayler, A Separation and The Spirit Of The Beehive. My Name Is Albert Ayler will be introduced by director Kasper Collins who will do a Q&A afterwards. Paradise Lost 3 will also play on the Saturday. For info on all the films see our CINEMA page. The cinema exists on a first come, first served basis. If you really want to see a film, you may have to get there early. There is limited seating and we do not guarantee entry into any session.
- Alongside the musical artists performing on Saturday, at the invitation of Caribou we are delighted to present lectures by Heiko Hoffman on Krautrock and Jason Evans on Photography. More info on their profile pages: Heiko / Jason
- Times for the Book Clubs with Laphams Quarterly are confirmed, more info on the books here. Special guests will also take part in the conversations, including Stuart Evers, author of Ten Stories About Smoking who will take part in the Blood Meridian and Visit From The Goon Squad discussions. Whether you love the books or hate them—or haven’t had the chance to read them yet—come prepared to talk! Advance topics of conversation on each title with questions LQ are writing will soon be available, check at http://tinyurl.com/lqbooks later today for the questions! We have copies of the books and of Ten Stories About Smoking that comes in this great box (see below) to give away to the first attendees each day.
- Gary Baseman, our poster artist, will be exhibiting throughout the event and selling an exclusive print. For more info on Gary see his profile page.
- As well as the Pop Quiz, Lord Sinclair will also be hosting the Book Bingo again at this year’s ATP. Book Bingo is a chance for fans to pass on cherished books and discover new favourites. Fans will be asked to donate books before the start of the game and we will also have some new books provided by publishers and other generous organizations. Every bingo call is a quote from a book and the first person to the name the book wins a book from those donated. Book Bingo has been very popular at other ATP’s and gives anyone with a love of books the opportunity to go home with a new treasure.
- As announced recently, there will be a Mixtape swap taking place on the Saturday at 3.30pm in the Pavilion - to take part check out the details here. Then at 4.30pm our friends at Oh Comely magazine will host a Paper Aeroplane competition also in the Pavilion.
- We can also confirm some more DJs including Stuart Braithwaite of Mogwai, Juk Juk, Ben Power (Fuck Buttons/Blanck Mass) & Conrad Standish (Devastations), DJ Andrew Hung (Fuck Buttons) and more (see times below)...
Please note some venues may not hold the entire festival capacity at once - so please check the stage times and arrive early if you don't want to miss a performance. If venues are full then security will operate on a one in - one out basis. As we are not using the pavilion stage this time around - our three curators will each play twice to allow everyone to see them - Friday's curators Les Savy Fav will be opening the weekend with their first set! Sadly The Dodos will not be able to perform their set this weekend due to a family member being critically injured - our thoughts go out to them, as we're sure yours do too.
